Creativity, Media and Social Responsibility

Shaping global policies and research ethics, driving ethical innovation and responsible research worldwide.

Our work informs governments and researchers on the critical intersections of media, technology, and society. This includes work on diversity, inclusion and equality in relation to work and disability and creative industries.

We provide a rigorous analysis of the contemporary social order and the global nature of mediated communication. We pioneer transformative approaches that redefine the future of media and communication by synthesising practice-based research with cutting-edge advancements in creative practice and creative technologies, future interfaces, computer science, and digital humanities.

SMIDGE - Social Media Narratives: Addressing Extremism in Middle Age

SMIDGE, PI: Dr Sara Wilford, is a Horizon Europe research project launched in March 2023 with a three-year duration. The project examines how online narratives, including conspiracy theories and misinformation, spread and evolve, with a focus on individuals aged 45-65. This generation plays a vital role in shaping public discourse, bringing experience and influence to social and political discussions. By better understanding their online engagement, our research seeks to empower individuals with tools to navigate the digital platforms confidently and contribute to a more informed society.
